"Construction" , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

30" x 20" x 3/4"
Happy New Year!
Today's painting is another knife painting in the sytle of "Inner Working". This time with green/blue and light creme color scheme. This is a bit smaller too. Lots of texture and movement going on.

"The Clear Path" , Abstract Impressionism , Cityscape , Acrylic on Canvas

36" x 24" x 3/4"
A switch in painting styles this time out. I've experimented with a loose, impressionistic technique done entirely with painting knives. The scale of objects is distorted (streetlights towering over skyscrapers, lights bursting like flower petals) to give it a more surreal look. The cityscape street is empty, and the sun is glowing in the distance.

"Conclusion #3" , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

24" x 24" x 3/4"
Third painting in the warm, textured "Conclusion" series. This one is sort of a middle ground between the first two.

"Conclusion #2" , Abstract, Acrylic on Canvas

24" x 24" x 3/4"
Second painting in the "Conclusion" series. This one has lighter, creamier tones than the previous painting. Still earthy, and fits well with the other two.

Creation Ebb, Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

36" x 24" x 3/4"
Another large splash-style painting. This one shifted quite a bit, once I left it alone, and it had to be reworked in a few places.

Conclusion #1 , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

24" x 24" x 3/4"
This is the first in a series of images exploring an earthy, warm color palette. It has a somewhat rustic, textured look and I've already completed two more of these that go well with it. I will be posting them by the end of the week.

Flowers in Magenta Snow , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas , Diptych

48" x 24" x 3/4"

I believe this is the first painting I've done with magenta as a prominent part of the color scheme. I don't know why I've avoided this pink-ish tone so much in the past. I think it's always been an issue of finding the right colors to complement it. Shades of violet seem to work pretty well.

Inner Working , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 24" x 3/4"
Painted entirely with various palette and painting knives. Lots of thick layers blending into each other. Warm, modern look achieved with a combination of medium to dark earth tones. Finished with layers of clear satin gloss.

"Unseen" , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

36" x 24" x 3/4"
Another splash-style painting with a more delicate effect. This one was left to dry and recoated with extra washes over the course of a few days. The overrall design changed quite a few times during the process, to the point where it was no longer recognizable from the first coat. I think it has an ethereal, ghost-like appearance.

Red Mood Compartment , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

Acrylic on Canvas, 30" x 20" x 3/4"
A modern geometric abstract panel design with layers of thick rich texture. Tools used to achieve the look were various palette and painting knives. A glossy gel was mixed into the acrylic for the center square and layers of thin, transparent glazes were washed over the textured center design. I love the sense of space and thick textures in these geometric panel designs and I intend to do a series of them.

Overflow , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

36" x 24" x 3/4"
A huge splash painting with some unusual and unexpected results. The design took on a very active and dramatic look after spraying water drops over the semi-dry paint and glaze. I like working this way as the process produces results that could never be exactly duplicated. A very one-of-a kind image results.

Long Day Ending , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas

30" x 20" x 3/4"
This is the first painting posted up to the blog! Finished in one day and inspired by a very looong day indeed. I tried to stick mainly to cool shades with some spots of yellow for contrast and to bring in a focal point/light source.
