"Storm under Skin" , Abstract , Acrylic and Gel on Canvas
36" x 24" x 3/4"My first foray into using self-leveling gel mixed with acrylic and applied on canvas. I had experiemented with the gel a few months ago for a mixed media sculpture project, but this is the first time I've tried it on canvas. There a lot of possibilities with the get as it dries clear. When mixed with transparent and iridescent paint, it gives off a luminous glowing quality in different lighting. Deep fissures have formed on the surface and it has the feel of a gel-like skin.

"Recurring Inhibition" , Abstract Mixed Media , Acrylic w/ Metal, Cloth on Canvas
"36" x 24" x 3/4"A mixed media piece this time out. Strips of cloth and wire mesh were embedded in acrylic and gloss gel medium. The surface was finished in a textured, heavily distressed style.

Today's painting is done solely with a palettle knife. Bluegreen paint was mixed with Burnt Umber for the background and the foreground is red oxide and a little raw sienna as well.

"Formation Seas" , Abstract , Acrylic on Canvas
24" x 24" x 3/4"Looks like I skipped a few days. New kittens = less time to paint.
This one is a smaller version of the previous splash-syle paintings with a slightly different technique. It seems that the paint is much easier to control if the canvas is a more manageable size. My arms still end up covered in paint up to the elbow though.
